Nora Awolowo Becomes Youngest Filmmaker to Hit ₦100 Million at Nigerian Box Office with Red Circle

Nora Awolowo, also known as Oreoluwa “Nora” Awolowo, has achieved a significant milestone in Nollywood, becoming the youngest filmmaker to surpass the ₦100 million boxoffice mark with her crime thriller Red Circle—a success that firmly cements her status as arising star in Nigerian cinema.

Produced under Rixel Studios with co-producers Abdul Tijani-Ahmed and Barnabas Emordi, Red Circle premiered in theatres on June 6, 2025, following a high-profile Lagospremiere on May 31st . Within just ten days of its release, the Akay Mason–directed filmgrossed an impressive ₦62.4 million 

This gripping thriller follows investigative journalist Fikayo Holloway (played by Folu Storms) as she investigates a powerful crime syndicate entrenched in corruption, wealth, and murder in Lagos . With star actors such as Bukky Wright, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Tobi Bakre,Omowunmi Dada, Femi Branch, Ruggedman, Mike Afolarin, and Debo Macaroni, the film blends star power with riveting storytelling .

Nora Awolowo began her career as a self-taught filmmaker, transitioning from mobile photography to executive producing. Red Circle marks her bold entry into feature-length thrillers—blending sharp visuals, social commentary, and commercial appeal. Her achievement showcases the increasing influence of young women in shaping Nollywood’s creative and commercial direction.
